Default Door locking beep question.

I swapped out my wheels today and somehow the beep to acknowledge the locking no longer works. Is there a switch? All i did was put the car in jack mode(i have air suspensions), changed the tires ut then turned off jack mode.

Just tested and the panic button still works.

Thanks,

When you push the lock button, do the lights flash?
Make sure that all the doors are actually closed.
When one of the doors, trunk, or hood is still open, the car will not beep.

And no, there is no button to turn off the beep. The only way to turn it off is with a VAGCOM.

Thank you, all doors are locked, lights blink and the car gets armed. I rolled the window down then armed the car. Waited 3 mins and I reached in and opened the door using the handle inside the car. The car alarm started beeping and lights flashing.

Does anyone know if the alarm siren is the same module that beeps when the car gets armed. The A4 forum showed a siren with a watch battery placed in the trunk of the vehicle. The battery dies or corrodes the circuit board which in turn requires it to be replaced. Same symptoms as on my car.

Can someone confirm where the door acknowledgement beep comes from? I just need to know if its coming from the same as the alarm siren. If not then please provice approximate location of the module.

Thanks all.

I would be interested in this as well, as the beep/chirp when locking sometimes works and sometimes sounds different. Wondering if it is wearing out somehow or if it does have a small battery that needs replaced. Thanks!

It's probably one of the microswitches in the trunk latch or the hood. Scan the car with VCDS. It will tell you which one is intermittent.

I had this issue. One of my door locks went bad. $600 later at an independent shop, and the lock works again and beeps when close. You might lock your car and then try to open da door and the trunk.

Same. Bad door lock will cause beep to go away. Replaced mine myself with an aftermarket part. Way cheaper than dealer price.
