Dusl Mass Flywheel Replacement??
#11
No CVTs do not use a dual mass flywheel. And I too was pretty sure multitronic was referring to CVT transmission. Im not terribly familiar with the DSG transmissions but they do seem to have a DMF. Although they are better known for the mechatronic control unit failure. DMF failure on any of these cars is very rare. yet to have a failed one come through my shop and they have been putting them in Audi's since the 100's w/ 2.8 engines.

Says who??? CVT boxes do use Dual-Mass Flywheel since they are controlled by 'clutch packs'. I just had mine replaced.

Wrong. All engines have flywheels, otherwise they would not run. Not all engines have dual mass flywheels.

DMF failure
Did you only change the DMF or did you need to change anything else too such as a clutch? I’ve taken mine to two garages and they are saying if I change the DMF, then I need to change the clutch too. The drive is absolutely fine, I only get a rattle when starting the engine.
