Default EPB not releasing

I had the orange Parking brake malfunction light for about a month; back then error codes that I received are below. I removed the left electrical connector (there was a lot of dust/dirt), applied some dielectric grease plugged it back in - no change, everything worked fine except for the yellow P.

This weekend again, put the car on ramps (Rear), unplugged the connector that connects to the left parking brake motor, put dielectric grease (this time quite a decent chunk) - reconnected the connector. Drove it into the garage - applied the handbrake, released it and held the release for some time. TEET - TEET - TEET. RED circle malfunction in the dash. Now it appears the left rear parking brake is not releasing. There is also a big Parking brake malfunction error on the main dash (in addition to the yellow P with a slash)

Also, when I connect using the VAG - the left motor shows a constant current of 0.133 amp, while the right side only gets the 0.133 amp in small bursts (and that side is working fine).

Update:

Removed the parking brake motor from the caliper. Unscrewed the thruster and was able to depress the piston to undo the braking action. The car can now be moved.

Quick question - is there a fast and easy way to check if the motor is broken?! I don't want to put it on the other wheel due to the work involved. The other components are the wiring harness and the control module.

I had gotten my pads replaced couple of months ago, and taking to a guy at a parts dept - he seems to think it is the motor that usually goes kaput!!

Alright - the motor is good. I connected a 12V wire to the two sides and it spins. YAAY.

So now it is either the harness or the control module. Given that I am getting an error for the ABS as well; my gut tells me the harness is the issue. Have the harness ordered 4f0972253L and give it a try tomorrow!!

Harness wiring had to be replaced. Once you replace the harness wire, the basic function/adaptation on the PB has to be run for the errors to go away.

So is the EPB for both sides working well now?

Appreciate the update to the saga. But 2 years later? Did it take 2 years to find the harness, or were there other issues?

lol - took me 2 years to update on AW, not to find the issue.

hardness was replaced on both sides... last year ... but now I noticed the left side already is showing wear -- maybe the clips to attach the wires to the body got loose somewhere and there was rubbing that stripped the wire - its the wire to the headlight level sensor - but I've just put some electrical tape.

Now I am getting the ABS + Brake + slippery when wet sign once in a while. I wonder if my ABS control module has gone bust. Anyone knows the sure signs to find out if that really is the culprit here?

Sorry for bumping but I've the same problem. Left side is not working. Motor is good. I've the same fault codes. I've tried 3 different parking brake modules but to no luck. The fault code for the module still remains. Was it the harness that was the culprit?
