Default How long the original battery last for 2008 A6?

Do anyone know how long the original battery will last for a 2008 A6? The battery was never replaced. I don't have the radio code. If the battery dies, I will have to pay ransom to Audi dealer to get the radio working.

Thanks

7 years, 3 months, 12 days, 9 hours, 47 minutes, 18 seconds. At least that is how long the OEM lasted in my 05, give or take a few days.

I put a new battery in our '06 wagon a few months ago. We had never replaced the battery, but it may have been done prior to our purchase as a CPO car. I cannot read the date code on the AGM battery I removed. It might have been getting weak on very cold days, but still showed 100% on the MMI battery meter.

I got a Gr49 AGM DieHard battery from Sears. IIRC, it was $143+tax. It fit perfectly.

I have a 2008 and it is still on the original battery. I had it tested by the dealer before last winter because I was worried and they said it was still in good shape. Audi's practice of placing the battery in the A6 away from the hot engine compartment increases battery life considerably.

hang on...there's a radio code for the 2G High MMI? That's news to me.

I know with the older C5 Bose radio there is a radio code that needs to be entered, but I think if you have a vag-com you can retrieve this without much issue...FWIW, I had mine written in my owners manual, just in case

As for battery life...mine lasted about 6 years...I replaced it with an 'Audi battery' direct from the dealer. It was the same price as any other battery and the dealer I go to are actually pretty good. Believe it or not...there are good dealer's out there that do good work

Kevin, one day I will get a hold of your excel file with all your documentation related to maintenance and I will no that I'm not the only 'insane' one. Actually keeping documentation and when something was purchased, replaced,, tracking MTBF (mean-time between failures), etc... lol cheers mate!

Insanity loves company! The new car is currently in the manufacturing process and is scheduled to arrive at the dealer on August 7th. Of course the old girl is currently running very strong. I am going to hate to see her go.

Kevin, please keep me in the loop on the old ride. I'm thinking it might be a nice upgrade from the current A4. Thanks!

There is no radio code in Audi's MMI as far as I can tell.
The worst that could happen is that the whole thing goes into protected mode or whatever they call it and you'll need a trip to the dealer to solve it. But that only happens when you switch component.
So long story short, you won't need a code. Things will just work.

Cool - The battery has no sign of issue so far. I will wait until the battery start having problem before replacing it. Thanks.

Replaced mine on my 08 last year. Way early but I was able to use large coupon which was expiring. I was also afraid of it failing since with my luck it will happen on the worst possible time.

My 06 with over 95000 mile is still on the original battery. I have positive feedback for Deka the OEM battery supplier. After an almost total discharge due to the car sitting idle for 4 months a good slow charge and i was back in business.
