Thanks Paul..

I recently had the same problem. In my case it was the driveshaft center support bearing.

Check that out first. I'm sure it would be a lot cheaper to fix than the rear dif!

Good Luck!

That's one of the differences between an enthusiast original owner and one who isn't. Kevin did a lot for his car and in hindsight it's always easier to judge what was perhaps a better cut-off point. Nevertheless, his sharing of details and knowledge on this forum, based upon all the things that could go wrong have enriched this forum for all of us

100% agree with you.
we all have different means and motives.
he too pointed how bills got hefty at 125Kmiles.
I also like tinkering somewhat with my challenging car.
there are issues I can handle, and some waaaaay beyond me.

Thanks for the kind words. In hindsight I should have pulled the plug at 125k miles. When these cars decide to give up the ghost, they do it in a hurry! Oh well, at least I had enough in my piggy bank to go out and buy a 2015 and start the adventure all over again.

Default whirring maybe solved ????

I was having the whirring sound
i was getting concerned it might be diff. bearing
or tranny related.

so I took it to a parking garage and drove around about 30 km/hr (garage was nearly empty)

put all windows down and the whirring was amplified by the garage walls.

faster i went the faster the whirring.
not louder though.

drove with 1 window down at a time now
as I began to suspect it was a wheel bearing.
the key was that the whirring went away as I cornered at speed.

I could hear the whirring most when driver window was open.
like 3x louder than when any other window was open.
and it even sounded like it was coming from driver front tire area.

I suspect that this wheel bearing is going.

that was just plain stupid IMO and extra money to burn. And doing all this crap, he was changing his oil every 10k miles. The most important thing was done the least.
