Will most likely run older AVUS w/225/55x16 Hakka R2's on newly acquired '06 A6Avant and don't want to stare at TPMS warning all winter!
Any link to procedure appreciated! MMI Software is up to date. TIA
Will be test fitting AVUS 16's for clearance in week or two.

Someone claims to have finally found a way to turn it off on the '06 car. We need to find the thread.
Let us know if the Avus wheel fits. There are very few 16" wheels that do.
I think I mentioned to you in the other thread that Gary at Tire Rack knows which wheels bolt up. He sold us the RIAL Como in the 16" size:

TPMS was a stand alone option in 2005. The base car did not have it.

Check out this thread. It definitely can be done as I've done it on my 2006 Audi A6.
I had to both disable it using Ross Tech and take out the fuse. Haven't heard a peep from it for 9 months.
Use Ross Tech to disable TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) - go to Instruments (17), Adaptation, Channel 61

It's in controller 17-Instruments.
Simply subtract 16 from the number in the first four digits and it should disable the TPMS.
ALWAYS REMEMBER to write down the original code before making any changes in case you have a problem or need to change it back..

Disabling TPMS is doable via VCDS. I had to disable it in multiple places, including the Instruments (17) and the Control Head (09 --> channel 01). Also, it took multiple attempts at this and had to be done in a certain order before I eventually was successful. Play around with it and make sure to document all your changes as mentioned above.
Of note, Avants like mine with the power liftgate get power to the hatch motors through the same fuse as the TPMS. That means removing the TPMS fuse wasn't an option for me, otherwise I couldn't open my hatch. I think that's why I had to disable the TPMS in multiple controllers but eventually got it to work. I never plan on turning TPMS back on at this point.
