Key Stuck In Ignition
My wife was driving home from work today and said that the car was acting up, engine revving. When she got home the key would not come out of the ignition. I pulled the following codes: P0300, P0302 & C0700.
I reset the codes and took it for a short test drive, everything seemed fine but I can't get the key out of the ignition.
Any suggestions?

My symptoms were like that in the youtube video except my key didn't come out the next morning.
I hooked my VAG-COM and got a P0571 Brake Light Switch Implausible Signal. Today driving to work the ESP warning light came on.
I remember that I recently did an oil change and rotated the tires but forget to perform a wheel change on the MMI. I don't know if this was the cause of the ESP warning light.
After a little research, my problems may be related to a blown brake light bulb. I will need to check this when I get home.

Stopped by the dealer on my way home from work, pick up a new brake switch ($15) put it in, reset the codes and now everything is back to normal. No more ESP warning, car does not get stuck in 1st gear, and the key removes from the ignition.
My thought is that car manufactures purposely have strange things happen when a simple switch goes bad to scare people into bringing it in to the dealer. A little research and persistence allowed me to solve the problem myself.

I replaced my brake light switch located by the brake peddle arm, that video is for the reverse light switch which is underneath the car.

I would have had only the first gear issue if the wife used the keyless ignition option. The ESP failure issue occurred latter on (100 miles later).
