Your bt is under the driver seat. So if you have any moisture I would remind the module attempt to dry out out and see if it works, if not replace it with one from eBay and go from there. Also I would get a fuse tester and check the fuse panel on the passenger side, I had a blown fuse that caused my entire mmi to die 💀 so give it a go and let us know
Looking at Bentley, there isn't a bluetooth module for the 06 Avant. Big help. Maybe I'll get lucky and a fuse will be blown. Then again, $7200 in repairs on the three Audis in the last 2 months. So with my luck, the control head is fried

Are you certain the Bt module isn't under the driver seat 💺? If not, where does it state the module exists in the avant?
Btw I've heard of the control module getting wet and not working, however I was able to price out a local working module at recycler for under $60 and when I researched how to install it, it appeared to be relatively straight forward and is tucked up under/behind the glove box.
The more pressing question will be to address the point of water ingress

I have an 06 avant like yours and my bluethoot module is under the carpet in the driver footwell. I have been to the process of removing all the seats and the carpet twice before figuring the leak was from the roofbar. And I got a fried amplifier from the rear windshield washer hose break. So I did a lot of readind on the mmi and how it is working. So if you have the bluethoot option in your car I am pretty sure it is under your carpet on driver side. But first, if you have a vcds run an optical bus diagnostic. This will provide you some clues about what going on...

With the controls for MMI completely dark, Screen black, NAV dvd tries to eject but fails, and CD ejects but no lights on - I'm not sure where to start. Probably BT because of the above codes.

my choice whould be...check gateway...(under glovebox)...see that MOST cables ok..clean etc..then check telephone module under driver seat....since thats the first/last module before gateway..and gateway is the main "router"....
