Looking for receiver to retrofit XM or sirius for '06

Re: XM vs. Sirius
I really don't care about programming one way or the other. In my area, Sirius has so many dropouts, it isn't very useful. XM just works better. Even if XM and Sirius merge their programming, for the foreseeable future, I expect both delivery methods to stay - or some users will suddenly find their receivers no longer work.
But I want to be very clear, all I need to do is remove the Sirius hardware and replace with XM hardware and all will magically work? If so, I'll be ordering XM right away.

Not sure on the 07's
Oregonbob, I think I remember reading that the 07's don't have capability for XM as they elminated some of the wiring when they went to Sirius as the only option. Anyone else know for sure?

Agree
My girlfriend has a Sirius in her E350 and the signal frequently goes away. My XM keeps playing even inside a parking structure where I live (SoCal). You probably would have to contact AoA to see if the XM unit will work in '07, even though I don't see why it wouldn't.

The wiring for Sirius and XM are completely identical
Audi would have to intentionally disable XM support in the MMI gateway, something that I seriously doubt they would bother to do.

Re: XM vs. Sirius - Dealer Comments
Parts person at Audi dealer says the most recent part number for XM is 4E0-910-593-G and that part number is good for 2005-2008 A6 and A8. But, based upon VIN, XM will not work in my car. 4E0-910-593-G is good in A6's up to VIN 073000 (last six digits). My S6 VIN is much higher than that and the parts book does not differentiate A6 from S6 for XM.
She's contacted her Audi rep and will hopefully have more next week. I'll post what I learn.
By the way, I did ask if the part was returnable. Answer no, once opened. And, any damage caused to MMI or Bose would not be covered under warranty.
