Maintenance Reminder Question
I'm new to Audi but not new to maintaining my own cars (Mercedes & Acura). I keep my vehicles over 200k miles.
I recently acquired a 2007 Audi A6 4.2 with 78k miles. Is the maintenance reminder tied to the last time it was reset? The maintenance reminder states that I have 2600 miles until the next service which would put the next service at just over 80K miles. The air filter and cabin filters look like new and the oil looks fairly clean.
I'm debating changing the oil since I'm not sure if it was done at 75k miles. What is the quantity of oil required for the 4.2L) engine (6.9L)? I plan on ordering the Vag-com cable and changing the trans fluid soon. Any other recommendations?
Thanks,
Ray

Well if the service light was no reset at the last oil service then no it wont be working correctly. Really you should just change the oil, and reset the light and go from there. The system does have a minimum time to change. So if it sat on a dealer lot a year and was driven 10 miles the service light will come on to change oil. The oil does break down and loose its ability to fight acids in the oil within a year. So if you dont know the last oil change. Just do it.

Thanks for the replies. I have the VAG-COM module on order and have the oil and filter ready to change this week. I will need to check my oil container to ensure that it can hold 9.5 quarts of oil.
