Default Mmi Controls dead

Hey I'm here helpin a friend out. Does anyone knows the part number for the 2006 A6 4.2 MMI control module unit and where is it located?

Is the MMI screen dead? If so, there could be a break in your fiber optic circuit.

I don't know the part number but on the 3.2l it is behind the glove box. How do you know it is the control module that is defective?

I would second that, broken optical loop will result in black MMI, or as Raj found out even a blown fuse will do the same.

Like I said its a friends car. Can you help me on which fuse is the MMI unit

The screen is dead and the controls are dead also. No function at all

check the fusebox in the trunk on the right side (where the toolbox is located). There was a communication 5amp fuse that failed on me once.

good point Roy. In my case, it was a 5amp communications fuse on the passenger side dash area. It was pretty obvious after the second look and a heck of a lot easier to get to that the controller.

Give it a go first, before you invest in something else.
