Default No dashlights, and no ignition

I have a 2007 Audi A6 and it is being weird. When I place the key into the ignition and turn to the right the steering wheel unlocks and the radio and other electronic items work. However the dashboard lights don't come on and it will not turn over if you try. When this has happened and I leave the key in the accessory position for whatever reason the dashboard will come on within about 10 minutes sometimes.

I replaced the battery thinking it was that but this seemed to only work for a few days before the issue started happening again. Does anyone have any ideas, or have further questions?

sounds like you have a power draw from somewhere in your car. or the alternator is not charging the battery.

also, is your MMI the latest s/w (46.1.0)? since there is a known TSB related to battery draw.

To identify what version of MMI s/w you are running now, you will need to do the following in your car:
1. Press ‘CAR’…then release
2. Press ‘SETUP’….then release
3. Press the ‘top right button’, next to the joystick and click on ‘Settings’
4. Move the joystick to ‘Version’ and click it
5. It will display the correct ‘Version’ for all your systems

Thanks for the reply. I will check the firmware version tomorrow. I don't know if that is the issue as the vehicle has worked for years without this issue.

Does anyone else have any ideas on where I should look?

Simply put, it appears you have an electrical draw somewhere. You'll need to pull fuses and measure the current from various electrical components to isolate the draw. For example, people have had issues with their Sirius radio module, which when it goes bad, tends to draw much more power and does not power down, even with the car 'off'...hence leading to a dead battery.

There are a TON of videos and resources on the interweb on how to isolate power drains...but that is your best course of action. You can't fix something until you've isolated where the problem exists.

In the interest of saving time I have taken the car to an independent shop for them to look at it. I will let everyone know what they find out.

Out of curiosity, what was the culprit?

So the shop looked at it and was unable to find anything wrong. No error codes, nothing out of the ordinary electrically either. I just went out and bought a new car to be on the safe side.
