I have a 2007 A6 3.2 with 66k miles on it. When I travel over this overpass at 35mph by my house I hear what I can best describe as a metal on metal clank. This over pass has about a 3/4 inch vertical difference in height at its expansion joint. I am pretty sure its the car as it doesnt happen with wife or daughters car. I havent heard this noise anywhere else but this overpass. The only work done which might be relavent to car was replacement of starter which I believe entailed the removal of some suspension bits a few years ago. Any idea what this noise could be.

I'd recommend getting the bushing checked...if they are worn or torn, it may be that 'clank' coming from that.

Check your Sway bar/Stabilizer bar links. Those things are notorious of going bad and making your car sound like junk on even the smallest of bumps.
Just replaced mine 10 days ago and the car handles a lot better and no more clunks. Best part? It was a $40 fix.
