2010 3.0T Avant here with just under 28,000 miles on it. I've had my share of problems with this car... disappointing... but oil consumption has not been one. The car was special ordered, broken in per the owners manual and driven in a spirted manner (50/50 mix of freeway and street driving). So far... knock on wood... no oil consumption at all.
Just over 30,000 miles now and the low oil light just popped on this morning. GRRRRRR.

I had my A4 2010 piston and rings replaced due to a lawsuit against audi for FREE. Have gone over 3000 miles since march and used zero oil according to the display in the car. there is no dipstick. drove locally for a couple of months then did a trip to CT from Myrtle Beach, SC doing 70-80 MPH getting over 30 mpg. Round trip 1500+ miles and no cunsumption so far.

FYI, the latest Consumer Reporst (August 2015) issue has a report on oil consumption for Audis, VWs, BMWs, Porsches, and Subarus. Per their date, the 2010 thru 2012 Audi A6s with the V6 have excessive oil consumption (i.e., adding at least a quart between oil changes. The percentage of cars for each year were 20% (2010), 17% (2011), and 22% (2012). For MY 2013 and MY 2014 A6s, the percentage of cars affected were only 3% and 2%, respectively. As you note, the A4 w/ the 2.0L engine had problems in 2010 and 2011 (58% and 48%, respectively).

My 2010 3.0T has fairly consistently burned through 1qt of oil about every 5000 miles from 25,000 to 53,000 where it now stands. I've certainly read from others of much more significant consumption that Audi deems to be within spec, so I'm just hoping it doesn't get worse over time.

I guess I should check my MY2010. About ready to do an oil change anyhow.
I find it interesting that the Audi is thought of to be using a lot of oil at 1 quart over 5K miles when GM always suggested 1 quart over 3K miles was normal.

Didn;t the seriesII go to a light tension piston ring? Almost always the causal factor (assuming burn vs. leak). My VH45DEs and VH41DE don't use a drop between changes, but nissan 'fixed' that when they put out the VK45DE and went `with very lightweight rings to reduce frictional losses.

Not sure what they used for rings, beyond the rings looked nearly new when pulled at 186K miles...lol If I hadn't been sitting on a new set, I would have reused the old ones.
FWIW even my GM vehicles only used oil when you beat on them.
