Passenger Air bag light - On or off? 2010 A6
I have a 2010 A6 that just went to the dealership to replace the fan motor. My wife says the "Passenger Air Bag Off" light doesn't goes out now when no one is sitting in front passenger seat. It does go out when someone is sitting there. My question is: Is the light supposed to go out after a short period of time when no one is sitting in the passenger seat? Wife says it used to but not sure since I really don't drive the car.

That is the normal operation of the light. When no one is sitting in the front seat than the airbag will not deploy in a crash. If someone is seating and the light is on than you have an issue with the airbag, or the sensor on the seat, you need to have it checked.
You only notice the bright orange light (required by uncle sam) if you are driving at night alone. If you do lots of that kind of driving I can see it being irritating. If it bothers you, you can put a piece of tape over it and leave uncovered only "OFF" . That way you are alerted to an airbag malfunction and the light it's not distracting.

If you open the glove box you will see a keyhole, you can turn the airbag on and off with your ignition key.
It's for if you have a rear facing child seat in the passenger seat.
