Pentofrost ++ or SF for 3.2 FSI
hey gang,
i want to buy some G12 Pentosin/Pentofrost coolant for my 2006 A6 3.2. from one of the websites it has the following listed from autobarn.net. it says the ++ is for alloy engines and SF is for alluminum engines. i'm thinking it probably doesn't matter and will probably get the SF but i was wondering if anyone knew if there was any difference in the product performance for specific year engines. thanks.

Van, it's technically OK to use any of the newer products. I just bought a small botttle of the pink G12 a week or two ago. The stuff that came in your 2006 car would have been the Pentosin SF (silicate-free).
I needed just a small amount for topping off our 2006 A6. I bought here, could not find a cheaper price:
http://www.idparts.com/catalog/produ...roducts_id=427
Some NAPA stores sell this product and inventory it. However, they struggle when trying to look it up as is comes thru some other distributor, not Pentosin. My local store did not have it and told me I'd have to order a case However, the guy did a search and was able to locate it at a couple other stores but they were all a long drive.
You might be able to buy a small "topping-off" bottle at the VW or Audi dealer. Not sure how much you need. During my search, I picked up some info that suggested this product is being completely phased out. Personally, I don't like blending coolants in these cars and wanted to have a bit on hand.
