I have this issue as well, but I'm never able to slam the liftgate shut. It always bounces back unlatched.

My particular workaround is to hold the door shut, then hit the open button a couple of times (either on the key or on the liftgate). Found this out by accident. It clicks a couple of times, then it latches.

I found that timing is everything, I have a window of about 1-2" of travel where if I push too soon or too late, it will not latch properly.

Btw, our cars are twins. At least, going by your sig, your car is the dark blue color. Grey interior?

Nope - I have the camel interior (rich brown). But it's still an awesome exterior!!
