Default Post valve cover gasket replacement errors

Took the car to an indy to get the valve cover gasket replaced. The passenger side gasket was replaced (which I believe is bank 1). The orange CEL came soon thereafter and the shop was about to close when I was leaving.

Its pretty obvious that something in that airbox area was not put together correctly. Any ideas on what I should check or start with?

You need engine work done properly by someone who knows Audis my indie guy works ar the dealer ship and has his own garage only save about 25 to 30 % but that is a lot on labor. He worked on the manifold control runner on the manifold it is a common problem with this car with the carbon deposits! mines did it at 70K....i was also getting 5 MPG if that helps...

Hi am_ver,

Have you seen this thread: https://www.audiworld.com/forums/q7-...-open-2863374/

Looks like it could be a control linkage that came undone...take a look and let us know what you find. Can't believe it's a coincidence whilst doing the VCG, since lots of things need to be moved while doing it. BTW, would have recommended you do the plugs and the air filter, if they needed to be done at the same time.

A coincidence like that would have me looking for the connectors to the valves. Likely it's in the back of the motor and should be at a spot where it'll keep the VC from coming out. Therefore they unhooked it and it was just out of sight when they put it back together.

Thanks guys for the tips!! I started with taking the air intake apart, re-installing the air box and the filter. Checking for loose electrical connectors (one by the accordian did seem loose). Took it for a test drive. The interesting part was that the light never came on in the initial ride - stop the car for a few minutes and BAM, comes the orange CEL.

So, one of the other things I had the indy do was replace the power steering fluid return hose. And right below that is the vacuum line. Given how brittle that line is, I bet the indy mechanic took a piece of the vacuum line while struggling with the clamp of the hose - bet he didn't even realize it.

Checked for continuity of the vacuum line and the vacuum line came out and appeared to be connected to nothing. Replaced the line, took her for a spin and no CEL.

Thank you Audi bug!!!

My advise to anyone seeing the P2006/P2007 error codes at the same time: check your vacuum lines for continuity/cracks.
