S6 vs. A6 -Question for S6 owners
#21
To continue the points that Canuck and v8a6 make about maintenance on a car like the S6. This was a concern of mine for sure, since the base A6 I've owned for the last 8 years has had some repairs that I would consider both expensive and unnecessary.
To combat this on my S6, I purchased the 3 yr/36k mile extended warranty from USAA. My hope is that this will cover everything minus pads/rotors, fluid/filter changes, wipers and tires. We will see.
It would be interesting to hear if anyone else has experience with extended warranties - good or bad. I saw that someone also had a warranty from USAA and the warranty covered something like $25k on repairs for a car with relatively low miles (60K mi??).
v8a6 - I like your math, it shows that purchasing a car like this new is EXPENSIVE, when compared to buying one used. In 2009 a friend bought an M5 for basically 1/2 what the original owner had paid about 14 months earlier.
Canucks6 - I see you have a 964. I also have a 993 and REALLY enjoy that car. It is pure fun to drive. No high tech options like digital screens or Nav, just a few basic dials, a stick shift and three pedals. My only knock on it is that I didn't buy it sooner!

Yes the 964 is a real blast to drive. Unfortunately with the rapid increase in the price of air cools I do not drive it as much as I used to.
