Audi dealer told me today not to expect a fix until next year on the West coast. Supposedly they are prioritizing hot humid parts of the country first, then working their way to areas less prone to malfunction. Also, Audi does not have as many problem cars as, say, Honda, which has millions.
Question: if I remove the fuse to the passenger airbag, will it prevent the airbag from spontaneously going off?

I do believe if you removed the fuse it would put the airbag system into a fail-safe mode and disable itself entirely, I would not advise it.

Spoke to Audi USA last week and I was told that my car is in group 6, and they are currently serving group 4 of the recall. She said I can expect my repair to be done later this year, likely in the fall and possibly late summer.

I took my 06 A6 4.2 into the dealer for airbag service and they got it tore apart before they realized the parts for my car won't come in until this fall. At least I got a wash out of the deal.

Just got an Audi USA letter and called my local dealer who once again told me as they did six months ago that they don't have the parts, don't know when they will get the parts, that the airbag replacement is targeted to other parts of the country first ( I am in the Seattle area ), and they hope they can get the parts 'sometime' in 2018. ( ! )
I think Audi sent the letter just to cover their legal butts.

I friend here in Connecticut who has a Q5 was just told that they are going to change his airbags next week when the car comes in for a regular service. They have the parts for both the passenger and driver airbags.
