it's an emergency kit jack...yeah i'd never actually use it in my own garage. That's why I have a 3 ton low profile floor jack with stands for garage use.

But if i'm stuck on the side of some road, that 3 ton jack isn't going to do me much good in my garage I've actually used the jack stand in the kit once...it worked, that's all I needed it to do.

I'll prefer calling AAA than having my car fall off a poorly built jack.

Fair enough...I prefer not having to wait for the AAA guy for a wheel change. To each his/her own.

Here - this might help you a lot more than the standard kit (for $10)

Do you really think VAG would put an unsafe jack in the car? It's an emergency jack. For emergencies. If you think the audi jack is a pos, you have never touched an American car jack. I have used Audi jacks on 200s S4s, and allroads. All for flat tires. All Worked like a charm. Solid and no shifting of the car. I have been in audi groups for 24 years and I never heard of an audi falling off a jack.

Some of us are not so fortunate to only have to drive between coffee houses, Nordstrom, and bistros in "NorCal." Try Vail pass on I 70 at midnight in a snow storm. Calling AAA? Try three to four hour wait if you are lucky. I guess some of us are just not fortunate enough to while away the hours eating sushi and waiting for AAA.

Just because something has 4 rings doesn't necessarily make it good. The OP doesn't have a kit; and my recommendation is to get something aftermarket that is woorthwhile. If you love your kit, good for u. and btw - I did go over Vail pass two weeks ago in a rental altima while it was snowing and no chains. Not sure why AAA would take couple of days to respond there. Either way - not sure what the argument is about - if u love your kit.... good.

Heading to Vail/Brekenridge again this weekend - sure miss the quattro in the snow while driving those rentals!
