Default Unstable tachometer

I recently got an oil change on my 2008 Audi A6 3.2 Quattro. Now I notice that when I am cruising in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear and 6th, and I am at about 1200 RPM, the tachometer is not stable.

Any solution?

Two possibilities. Either you need a carbon cleaning or a torque converter. How many miles on the car?

A third: shop drained trans fluid instead of engine oil, realized and either stopped and left it (low fluid) or tried to fix it by re-adding fluid (wrong level or fluid).

What kind of shop?

Ouch, if that's the case then you'll need to drain the entire tranny and refill with spec fluid and hope it fixes the issue.

But, in with Kevin on the initial assessment. Get yourself to a good Indy Audi mechanic and confirm the cause of the issue before it leaves you stranded on the side of the road.

I get that only on very cold days in winter until everything comes to full operating temperature then tach is steady.
