Anyone ever figure out a way to do a water-cooled alternator on a 2.8l v6? I'm picking up a rewound to 200 or 250 amp alternator and would like to protect/cool it.

why not post of the C5 or B5 boards, since there are no 2.8 C6s.

I've also been toying with the idea of a rewound high amp alt for my 4.2 as I am planning a Big 3 upgrade to go with my new stereo system. Its the best move you can make for reliable reserve power.

I have a 2007 a8 4.2 and just replaced my alternator with a new one and when I start my car it only runs off the battery and once the battery is drained the car cuts off, I also just bought the battery yesterday, do you know what might be causing this

Assuming the belt is still routed correctly, I would suspect the wire for the field winding has no voltage on it or is not connected at all.
