Default Water pump

At what interval are folks replacing their water pump on the C6? I have about 130k miles on the car and remember that regular maintenance routine on most cars calls for replacing the water pump around 90k (typically with the timing belt) miles. I am not seeing any issues or leaks on mine.

Has anyone had a water pump fail on them? I can look-up the Benteley manual for the instructions, but does anyone have a DIY written up?!

I had the water pump fail...but it was fixed by the original owner and under warranty. It failed within the first 40k miles.

When I traded in my 05 4.2 at 142k miles it still had the original water pump.

It was common to replace on the C5 & earlier models with timing belts because you had to pull off the front of the engine and the water pump was right there.

No need to replace until it fails with timing chain engines.

Mine went at 130K. Not a catastrophic failure, just weeping. Not as easy as a small block chevy. 2005 4.2

As far as I know, with these chain driven engines, you kinda just wait until it fails then replace it. That doesn't mean you shouldn't replace it if you want though.
I don't know if anyone has a DIY on it either.. I do remember one DIY where they replaced it during a carbon clean. Otherwise you do have to remove the front end or at least put it in service mode if I'm not mistaken.
