Default White smoke after replacing vacuum hose

Hi,
I replaced a broken piece of vacuum line the other day and as soon as I did, white smoke poured out of my tail pipes. When I pulled the line off, it stopped.
any ideas?

Which line was it specifically? And can you see both ends, to see what it's connected to? If it was a truly broken vac line, you'd have a hissing coming from it, and poor running if it's pulling in air. For it to suddenly make the car smoke tells me whatever is on the other end has some water in it.

This is someone else's diagram, but the arrow is pointing to where I replaced the hose.
