Default Withdraw ignition key radio stays on

I have a 2006 A6 Avant.

Just lately, whenever I remove the ignition key, the console and other electricals remain on.

I have to re-insert the key and wiggle it around before it shuts off.

There is obviously a defective switch or breaker in the ignition that is not getting tripped when I remove the key.

Can anyone help with a suggestion or should I get a bank loan and go visit the dealer!

Many thanks

Not sure but will it turn off if you open the driver door. I know newer models do this.

No. The only thing that works is if I jiggle the key inside the ignition until it shuts off.

This can take anywhere from 10 to 30 secs.[/I][/I]

Did any of guys figure out the problem? I'm having the same issue and its getting worse. I was able to bare with it for the first couple of months because it only took less than 30 seconds inserting the key and taking it out until i found the "sweet spot". But now it's taking me 10 - 15 minutes to turn it off.

Default Withdraw ignition

Alas, it reached a point where i couldnt jiggle it anymore and had to take her to our local Audi Hostage Dealer.

The problem was the MMI system which they did a major fix on which cost me between $4,000 and $5,000.

Good luck to you.

Pressing down and holding the volume button would not shut the MMI radio off for you? Or was your problem not related to that. Could you elaborate exactly what costed you 4-5k to fix?
