Default Would you come back?

I haven't been in an Audi for some time now but I'm feeling the itch. I previously had a C4 100cs two C4 A6's and a C5 A6 2.7t. I'm now driving a Passat 3.6 and I'm considering a C6 A6 as its replacement but after looking into a few models I'm starting to feel like it would just be a lateral move.

What do you guys think?
The Passat is a 3.6 lux FWD with everything except HID, NAV and park sensors

The Passat is not even close to the build quality and luxury of the Audi. Performance wise it can compete.

True except I would personally pass on the 3.2 and either go with the newer 3.0t or the 4.2 v8. Both of the latter 2 will blow away a passat in terms of perf. As for ride, quality, features, the c6 is a great platform in relative comparison to the passat

Having owned both VWs and Audis, I agree. Even though the 1.8L engine was an Audi engine, the body of the 2000 VW Passat (B5) did not compare with an Audi body. I recently replaced the Passat with a '14 Audi Q5 2.0T for my wife, and the difference in the body quality is quite evident. Re: which engine for the C6 A6, either the 3.2L or the 3.0t engines are quite adequate (I have a '06 A6 Avant w/ the 3.2), but the 3.0t will outperform the NA 3.2. If you go for the 3.0t, avoid the '09 MY as it was the first year of that engine, and reliability was affected.

I have had 7 Audis and 7 VWs. The two are different in many ways. I just came out of a A4 and now have a B5 Passat. The Audi is a big step up in luxury and the VW is so much fun to drive with a small step down in comfort. Go with the Audi it won't let you down.

Skip the 3.2, go with the 4.2.
