Default 06 A6 wagon rear door motor source?

What a run around with the dealer. Mine has the motorized open/close of the rear deck. Apparently not a widely sold option. 1st dealer replaced the struts, 2nd dealer replaced the latch and now says the motors are shot. Audi only sells the motors in pairs and it's over $850 and that is on top of the $700 that they already soaked me for. Anyone know of a possible second source for them?

TIA,
AJG

Have you tried other Audi shops that might sell the motor(s) for cheaper?

If you have the part #, I'd contact: http://genuineaudiparts.com/ and see what they can offer the part for.

Also, if you are comfortable getting a used part, go to the local german auto wrecker/recycler and see if they have one available. In the past I'd do this for my C5 and came away with parts that were in very good condition for about 1/5 the price of new.

Or try http://www.shokan.com/used-audi-parts.php

Good luck

Thanks for the links raj99. Already contacted the local Audi recycler - he asked me if the motors were in the door or in the body. When I told him the body, no dice - just crushed it. Timin is everything. Will check the other links out though.

Well, I went to the service manager at the local dealer and I asked why they replaced parts at two Audi dealerships that didn't correct the problem. I don't subscribe to the replacement by try a new part philosophy, at least when it comes to charging customers for parts they don't need. I pointed out to him that the techs really have no definitive way of isolating the fault except to try parts from the lowest price up to the highest (motors were $800+ labor was $300+) and that repair philosophy was what we used in the 60's when there was minimal diagnostic capability. Had a misfire, isolate to a cylinder by pulling plug wires one at a time. One cylinder, try a plug first. Doesn't work, try a plug wire. Still doesn't work, compression test. Compression OK, tune-up. Never charged for parts used that didn't correct the problem. He agreed and admittedly things are a bit different (once a tech opens a part and installs it, it can't go back into inventory) and went to Audi corporate. Got the car back with new motors and no bill. That was a pleasant surprise.
