Default 2013 A7 3.0 VS 2014 TDI Need some advice please!

OK... this will be my first Audi and I am very excited to not only own one but be aprt of the community. I have been a Mercedes guy for years and I am really shooting for a pleasant experience as a new Audi owner.

My question.. I am looking at a 2013 with roughly 19K miles for 36,500 and a 2014 A7 TDI with around the same miles and I could pick that up fro 46,500.

I dont do a lot of driving and most of what I do do is around town. I keep seeing the TDI's roughly 8-10k more in value. In your opinion. Is the TDI really worth the extra money? I'm thinking with the difference I would be able to do some pretty nice mods to the 2013 A7 but of course I am really liking the gas mileage of the TDI and the fact that it may resell better down the road because they seem to be a lot harder to find.
As far as mods I'm only looking for you a stage I a few body modifications and maybe an exhaust. Any suggestions there would be greatly appreciated as well. Oh and yes both models are the exact same trim / package.

Thank you for your comment and advice. Either way I am sure I will be happy with being a new Audi owner.

I prefer the crisper throttle response of the supercharged 3.0TFSI, although if I did a lot of highway miles, the decision may be more difficult.

Ironically, in most parts of Europe, the TDI is now the only V6 engine available for both the A6 and A7, with the supercharged 3.0TFSI being recently dropped from the range. Certainly the popularity of diesel due to more efficient fuel use meant sales of the gasoline version were lower, but the more likely reason is that Audi are reducing production of the supercharged engine as they phase it out for the new turbocharged V6, as appearing in the B9 S4/S5 and Porsche Panamera, etc, in various states of tune and hardware configuration.

I can't answer re. current and future value of a TDI in the US. But I think that would largely depend on whether Audi ever brings diesels back there.

Ideally, you would drive both cars and should find them different enough that you will have a preference.

I went from a 2012 TFSI to a 2015 TDI. Best move I ever made!

TDI hands down.

Don't get me wrong, I like the power of the supercharged 3.0TFSI in my A7 but driving my A6 TDI is a totally different experience. I think my TDI has better throttle response, better power through the rpm's and obviously a lot more torque to get up and move.

If you are keeping the car long term I'd seriously consider the diesel.

Did the same and agree 100%. Lease ends in 6 months and it's too bad the 2017 A7 does not offer the TDI...Does anyone know if they will be offering anytime is USA?

Hopefully later this year or early next year.

They have to fix all this epa stuff first and then the cars will be back on the block for sale.

Sorry to break it to you but the diesels are NEVER coming back to the US. Too much of a liability to bring them back, especially when they represented less than 10% of the cars available for any given model. Audi is now shifting to electric (for better or worse). If you have a TDI hold on to it, I think they will be highly sought-after in a few years time.
