Default 2015 or 2016 A7?

I was in a BMW dealership the other day and spotted a 650 Gran Coupe--wow what a great looking car. That got me thinking about moving from my Q7 to a luxury sedan. I checked out the A7 and while it doesn't quite make my heart flutter like the 650GC, it is a beautiful car, and a MUCH more reasonable value (the 650 is stupidly overpriced for what you get IMO).

So now I'm thinking about the A7. I generally like to buy low-mileage CPOs because of the value gained, but am willing to buy new if it makes sense.

TL;DR-->start here: I am wondering how the 2015 and 2016 models differ. I read something yesterday about some electronics upgrade, but now I can't recall what it was or where I saw it. Any info and thoughts about buying a '15 vs '16 would be greatly appreciated. I would also consider leasing, but 1) I don't know how to analyze a lease offer, and 2) the lease offers I saw on Audi's site didn't look very appealing (I drive 9k miles a year).

TIA

2016s have a variety of changes. Electronics wise, there's an upgraded, newer generation of the MMI, faster processor (quad core), essentially smoother graphics when zooming your maps and slightly more responsive inputs. Also you can put the navigation maps into the DIS in between your gauges instead of arrows when navigating. You also get a faster internet connection 4G LTE with ATT instead of plain old 3G. Siri eyes free is integrated now.

I think the bigger changes are the upgraded engine specs for the A7, HP up to 333 in the 2016 vs 310 in the 2015. Torque is unchanged.

I'd go with whichever one looks better to you. I personally like the exterior changes and the increased power so I went with the 2016. Besides, I couldn't really find any 2015 S7s.

Don't know much about leasing either (I drive 17K miles a year).

Hope this helps!

I drove both the 640 grand coupe and the 2016 Audi A7 and from reviews, the A7 is definitely alot more zippier and sharper then the 6 grand coupe. The 6 GC is overweight and has a sluggish steering and annoying body roll on turns that many magazines have complained about. They pitted the A7 vs the 6 and the A7 triumphs dynamically. Either way both choices are great. I love the look of my 2016 A7. Its very sharp and elegant and I get alot of great compliments on it.

2016 over 15 just for the lte and the new mmi. it's upgradable through online updates and you won't need to mess with the dealer garbage over that. individual contour seats really takes the whole interior to another level as well... really takes everything up a notch, looks and feels like quality

A 6 GC is a different creature than the A7 when it comes to lease pricing, though the A7 (or s7) is a much better deal if you purchase. Most people lease GCs, because if you shop around, you can find BMW lease terms that are an order of magnitude better than Audi, Lexus, Merc, or just about anything else. Also most dealers will chop $10k off msrp without much if any negotiating.

For example, on an $86k msrp 640i GC, I was quoted 36 month, 10k miles per year, $0 down, @$1000 per month. Add another hundred or two a month for a 650i GC. BMW lease terms change from month to month but this is a fair ballpark figure.

I'm a big fan of both the A7 and the 6 GC -- I like the A7's hatchback and TDI option but prefer BMW's inline six to the Audi gas supercharged v6. But there is no right or wrong here, it's just a matter of taste. Good luck.
