My local dealer was having a string of C7 wiring harness issues come in for warranty work. Turns out that Audi is using a more "environmentally friendly" (Organic) tape on some locations within the engine compartment. It attracts mice.
I'd suggest that you take a close look at the wiring harness for any damages.
