I'm to the point that I disable the auto shutdown every time I get into the car. I need to do the VAG. Makes you wonder how much wear and tear is placed on the starter for this start-shutdown mode.

I had the dealer change mine today. There have been too many times where the car has choked as it tried to restart, or has stopped just as I left the brake and hit the gas.

If your car is a 2016 I'm surprised the dealer would do if for you - consider yourself lucky. From what I have heard most dealers won't do it as it changes a factory parameter that effects the CAFE rating.

It is a 2016 and the dealer had absolutely no qualms about it. Apparently it is the source of a lot of customer complaints. Even my loaner had the default changed.

I just noticed that my 2014 A7 now remembers Auto Off setting. I disabled it when I was in traffic last week and forgot to enable it after I got out of traffic. When I started the car the next time Auto Off was disabled. I have no idea when that changed.

You will notice in the center of the dash where the sin slot and ssd slots are just to the lower left of the cd door that there is a button with an "A" and a circle. That button will either deactivate or activate the stop start function on the 14. When I had a loaner 17 A4, recently for routine service, that button is also on this model as well. Wonder if it is coming back for 17 models. My previous car was a hybrid so used to stop and starts.

My 2015 always remembered the setting. They made the change on the 16's.

Initially my 2014 wouldn't remember the button setting and would always default to Auto Off active. Sometime in the last two years of ownership something changed this behavior. Maybe when the swapped out the audio head unit (the left SD card slot wouldn't lock a card in)?

I just purchased the 2016 A7 last weekend, the dealer added every VAGCOM mod I wanted (today) but this one wasn't loaded for my car and was grayed out... So can someone post pic by pic of where they are going in the 2016 models to make this change.
