Hi Fellows,

I want to replace the driver side Cylinder Head because first I broke a glow plug inside and then further broke the drill bit's tip while trying to extract the glow plug, then 3rd, messed up the cylinder body of Glow plug's hole while trying to center the drill bits (the "Rescue Bit") to extract previous mess.
I CAN NOT TRUST the mechanics for my baby .. NOPE!!! never!

Every work shop is telling me that they have to drop the engine (almost $3000 job, plus I am buying parts) else it is not possible. I am not accepting that.

Experience wise, I have been working on my cars for quite some years now, but haven't done such big job (if it is a big job) plus never worked on German TDI's.

My question or call for help is,
1) Do we really have to drop the engine?
2) Can we do without it?
3) After watching multiple YouTube videos, once I will open Valve Cover, how I will deal the Timing Chain and Chain pully before removing the Head Bolts? I know the type of tool we need, but there are Chain tensioners too which are keeping the chain tight tight. Since engine won't be sitting outside and front of me (as for those people in YouTube showing while replacing the timing chains), I won't be able to reach to those tensioners. So how I will deal with that without messing the timing?

Please help if anyone has experienced doing this or done it on these 3.0L TDI engines (especially A6 or A7). Some pictures would be great or if you know or have any of your own or a video on YouTube.
