Default Chrome Trim Flaking

Hey everyone, love reading the forums. I have a question for the group. I have a 2015 A7 Premium Plus with Cold Weather, Moonlight Blue, Nougat Brown. Delivery was 8/2014, now with 15,000mi. It is a true pleasure to drive. It's gorgeous. You all know that.

A few months ago, I noticed that the chrome trim around the windows had flaked, severely, in a few locations. On a close inspection, every piece of chrome trim was affected: scuffing, flaking, etc. It was nauseating to wipe and wipe and see the damage unchanged everytime.

Audi Dealer repaired it, but they disavowed any warranty coverage (Audi paid for parts, Dealer paid for labor to replace) and said that if it happens again they won't replace it.

No one will admit to even a suggestion of how this happened. Car Wash? "Maybe, if it contains 'Alkali'..."

I hope it doesn't happen again? I do wash it regularly, about once a week, usually at a drive thru car wash, sometimes with cloth touch, sometime no touch.

If anyone has shared please let me know what to do.

Thanks.

I would get the AOA involved. There is no way that a properly plated item should start flaking after a year.

How did they repair flaking chrome? The only two ways that I know of is replacement or replating.
