Difference between A6 and A7
So, said from the obvious difference in the body, what exactly are the differences (if any) from its A6 sibling? I'm looking at acquiring one or the other in the near future and would like to know where all the extra money is going...

Essentially, you're buying style. The A7 is a little heavier due to the extra structure required for the hatch, and the track is a touch wider, but essentially they're identical from an amenity/powertrain point-of-view.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. The local dealership has an A7 Prestige with the Innovation package, 20" sport package, and LED headlights for about $75K (MSRP), and an A6 Prestige with the same equipment due in in the next couple of weeks for $67.3K.
I've always liked hatchbacks and it sure would make loading nice and easy for those long highway trips; but that $7-$8K difference is a lot...

The A7 has a lower roof. It's wider. The tails are different. The track is wider. The tires are wider. The mirrors are mounted on the door panel instead of the window sail panel. Chrome grill accents. Movable rear spoiler. Third brake light built in to the trailing roof edge. Frameless side windows. Door panel arm rests are flat instead of curved. Larger trim area on the dash.
I like the A6 LED headlights more.

Also, I've read a few reviews that implied that road and tire noise in the A7 is greater.
Is this true?

Mostly exclusivity.
I was initially torn between the A6 and A7, but the sexy lines of the A7 ultimately won me over. IMO it is truly beautiful and distinctive looking automobile.
I do wish that Audi had "luxed" up the interior a bit more to help differentiate it. Maybe more leather on the dash / door panels, double stitching, or additional soft touches over the A6.
Botton line - I think you will love either car. Good luck with your decision.

I don't know about that. A6 and 4 and 8 still dominate in appearances, at least in south OC. I see a lot of A8 and 6s. Starting to see the 7 here and there still seldom though.

Are you seeing current C7 A6s? Because I see plenty of the older C5-C6 A6s, B6-B8 A4s, and A8s in the LA area. Even then, the ratio of more A7s to A6s is not large when compared to A4/S4, A5/S5 crowd.
