Apparently IIHS said the majority of headlights on Audi's, VWs, BMW, MB etc are POOR. The LED setup on the A3 received a Acceptable rating. Only the Prius received a Good rating.

New IIHS ratings show most headlights are lacking

What is everyone's experience with the LED setup on the A7? I have a 2014 and feel they are very good, but have not compared them to much else.

Has there been any testing in Europe of the headlights?

There are only two Audi's in the test, An A3 and A4. Both scored between Good and Marginal. They didn't fall under the Poor category like MB. Personally, I rate the HID headlights as between good and marginal. I have no experience with LED headlights.

Be careful! There is a reason why they're adjusted as such in the factory. Aiming them higher might mean blinding drivers going the opposite direction and even the same direction. I am one of those extremely bothered (annoyed) with cars with mis-aligned headlights.

The LEDs on the A3 scored poor. It was the xenons that got acceptable.

I adjusted my LEDS headlights on my 2016 A7 up a little and got tons more distance and I am not blinding the other drivers. Heck I dont give a rat @$*@$ about the other people, I need to see better to avoid anything at night especially people walking or deer etc. The new set up I had done is perfect and no issues so far. Factory spec is aimed too low.

I raised my A7 LED's up two full rounds. The low beams only lit up three dotted line markers. I find the LED headlights to be just as good as HID's. Nice bright white light.

I'm going to have to try raising them a bit, although I really like them as they are. Brights are a little lacking in width of coverage but generally work well for when I need it.

In the US and Canada, heads lights can't exceed a specific brightness. For high beams it's 75,000 candelas per headlight. Low beams have a lower limit (like 40,000 per headlight). In the rest of the world, the limits, if any, are much higher (like double). So, in the US and Canada, the LEDs are no brighter than the HIDs and bi-xenons.
