Default Help for an A7 TDI Lessee

We have a 2014 A7 TDI, and we need to replace it at the end of the term. I suppose I have a few questions for which my (admittedly cursory) search has not found answers.

1. Is it even possible for me to buy the car at the lease end? I have been told "no" by a few people because it would count as a new sale, but haven't received official verification. Audi Financial basically punted the question when I asked them.
2. Is Audi is giving any incentive for TDI owners to buy/lease another Audi? My wife loves the A7, but is quite indifferent to the TDI/TFSI. We would be buyers of a 2017 A7, I believe.

I am a long-time Audi driver (TT, A4, A6, S5, and A7), so I'm not bashing on the controversy. I just want to keep my wife happy with her car!

Thanks in advance!

To answer your question #1, YES you can and are allowed to buy the A7 TDI. You cannot buy a new TDI as its a stop sale on the diesel right now because of the VW diesegate. You might want to stick with your A7 TDI or go with the newer 2017 facelift A7 with the TFSI engine.

I have a 2015 A7 TDI on a lease.

If I was in your shoes, I would ask the leasing company to extend the lease for a year, to give me a breather to see what Audi is going to do.

I second that, its not a bad idea at all! WE have a 2014 Audi A6 TDI and I love the torque and gas mileage on it. The 2016 Audi A7 has the TFSI engine and I love the power it gets and it still get decent gas mileage around 29 to 30 mpg highway around 80 mpg but around 21 mpg in city.

They would only extend for 6 months, so we're looking at options in the meantime.

How do you know this? I called both Audi Financial Services and Audi of America and they both pointed at each other.

I would call your salesman to get clarification on this and have him/her help you out with the purchase at end of lease. That what I did few times with my previous cars. Since you already leasing this car you should not be prevented from keeping it at end of lease unless its forbidden by the US government due to dieselgate.

You can always buy out a lease car before the lease ends at whatever the payoff is, which you can look at online. The only question is what the tax laws are in your state. In Texas you'll pay full tax on the amount you buy the car for, even if you paid tax on the entire car when you leased it. But different states may have other methods of taxing it.

My $.02, I'd opt for the 2017 A7 TFSI. Let someone else deal with the persistent 2.5PM TDI emissions.
