Default Highest MMI version for 2012 A7?

I'm getting ready to drop off my A7 at the shop and was wondering about asking them to do an MMI update while they've got it. Can the latest MMI be installed on a 2012, or does that year "top out" at a specific version?

Also, I've read that there's an adjustment that can be made that will cause the media player to default to a zero volume setting at startup in lieu of actually being able to turn it off. (Seriously, who thought that not having an off switch was a good idea???) Is that something that one would normally ask the service guys to take care of, or is that more of a vag-com mod only?

I have been longing for 5 years now for an adjustment that can be made that will cause the media player to default to a zero volume setting at startup but to date have not seen or heard of one. Did anybody?

The service department told me that it would cost $562.50 to update the MMI version in my 2012 A7. The latest version that was mentioned as a navigation system fix is version 0814.

Yes, for pre-facelift models, you can do it via the green hidden menu. I did it a couple years ago, and I don't have my notes handy, but you might try searching here for "hidden menu".

Update what? The firmware or the map data? The latest firmware update for the MMI 3G+ is currently 0900 or 0925, I'll find out on Monday exactly. I'm getting mine updated. Dealer is doing it as a goodwill gesture as I'm out of warranty now. Firmware upgrades are free under warranty. Map updates on the other hand cost money and the quoted prices are around $400.

I do have the green hidden menu enabled, and have tried different settings but nothing I have tried worked. Could you find your notes and shared it, I would greatly appreciate it.

Ok, quick update. The latest firmware update is 0942_3. That's what I have now after today's update. Seems like mostly bug fixes coming from 0814 as far as I can tell. I didn't have any issues, but apparently this update is supposed to fix random freezes.
