22x9/265.30.22/15mm spacers sets the wheels fender flush... I have exactly 1" of clearance between the fender and the sidewall.

In EU, sport Audis are branded S Line. My A7 S Line has exactly the same transmission, chassis, etc as an S7, the only differences being the interior which is black with brushed aluminum trims and the engine which is a 3.0 Turbodiesel V6

S Line A7's and S7's are lowered by 6mm than regular A7's. It is a very stable car with rough suspension, and given the S Line bumpers, I don't see a point lowering it even more.

If he opts for 22s, but wants the original ride height, then lowering is necessary

I've been rolling on coilovers for about 9 months and would recommend going springs only. Other than the adjustable aspect of the coilovers (which I have adjusted only once when first installed), the ride suffers. This is mainly due to the shock valving/dampening vs OEM. Only installing springs mainly retains the factory quality ride. If I had to do it over again, it would be springs no question.

I just ordered H&R springs for my A7.
I think for non-sport, springs drop about 1.4" front..

installing this Saturday..will post pictures when done.

questions: will the HR springs improve handling/cornering (I have a non-sport edition as well) or just stiffen the ride? Does the dealer install them?
thanks
