MMI updated to 814
i had read in other threads of the new MMI update released a few Weeks ago for A6 and A7, possible S models as well. I believe it applies to 2012 to 2015 my.
Had my 2014 A7 in for the 15k. I used the following majic words: my wife's Windows phone would not connect. I was told that I heard updating MMI to 814 would correct it.
Service found TSB 2030465/7 for "pairing problems." They did the update pursuant to TSB 2024523. MMI Went from 713 to 814. Warranty covered.
Only had it back for a few hours. Menus seem redesigned. Some new options in the set up screens like the ability to easily change navigation volumes with a pictoral rheostat. Also, blue tooth link was instantaneous. Was finicky before.
Also got the required transmission TCM 37j1 update. BIG change. Vastly improved 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 shifting. Butter smooth shifting.
THANKS to AW to alerting me to the 814 MMI update! Not sure if really needed, but the price was right and it never hurts to have the latest firmware. All personal data, phone logins were saved. Only thing not saved were some of my MMI hidden menu changes, like the RS7 splash screen, perhaps others.

It's good to hear that others are now getting version 814, and it seems it's confirmed that the Windows phone issues are one thing it addresses. I don't have a Win phone, so most of what I was noticing were the minor cosmetic changes (which I posted about in the thread linked below).

Dealer attempting 8 series updates
At the dealer for 25 k mile service. Told them about the phone problems. The are going to try the update. Not sure it will work on my 2012 as I have the older 5 series mmi software. Will know in 1 hr or so. My fingers are crossed

Success. The nav function does lane diagrams in the driver info sceen. The big nav screen now shows more street names. The driver info screen shows info like gas food lodging for next exit like the big nav screen
Have not had a chance to figure out other changes.
Thanks for providing tsb info

I have noticed several nice but small changes in the screens. And i think the damn CANCEL navigation button is now much easier to find. All my phones do connect quicker in BT.
Now that MS has killed the windows phone, who cares about windows. But it was the magic words for me to get the update

I just called the service foreman and asked about availability of the 814 update. He said they have the disk, I should make an appointment to get it done. Car is going in Friday morning, I did not need to tell any "stories".
