Mystery loose nut/washer found near parcel shelf
So I open the rear hatch today and spotted this integral nut/washer wedged in the gap between the shelf and pillar (as shown). It appears to be a 1/4 inch nut with a free spinning integral washer. No markings that I can see to identify it. Very mysterious.
Any ideas how it got there? Did it fall from somewhere inside the hatch?

Found a parts diagram for the hatch and it sure looks like something pictured on it. Guess I'm calling the dealer.

"Well, at least it wasn't a loose hammer. Because we've seen that before."
That was the SA's comment when I picked up the car. Dealer took off the interior trim cover on the hatch and verified all nuts were present and accounted for. They said the nut I found was probably dropped into the hatch by accident during assembly (and rather than fish it out the factory worker just left it). And eventually the nut worked its way free due to gravity and the gap near the hinge pivot.
The dealer also retrieved and reinstalled one of the two rubber pieces that help secure the sunshade (several other people have posted the same issue). One of the rubber pieces had come free about a year ago and then the sunshade started rattling against the plastic trim since it was only held down at three points (instead of the usual four). The quick fix back then was some felt tape wrapped around the metal tab of the shade.

That's pretty funny actually. Kind of reminds me of a time I bought a CPO car that had this horrible clunk when I would turn right sharply. Couldn't figure out what the issue was nor could the dealer so I sold it after about 6 months. The new owner sent me an email about 2 months later and said he kept hearing a clunk in the back while cornering, so he removed the trunk liner and found a Corona rolling around in the spare tire well!
