I took my 2012 A7 to the dealer yesterday for a 22,000 mile service. I asked the tech to program the car so the engine doesn't automatically shut off when you open the door (i.e., start the car, back out the garage, open the door to get the newspaper - engine shuts off).

The tech had no idea what I was talking about. Does anyone have any service information I could provide them?

Is there a code for this and nobody responded - or did I just imagine that I read about a way to do this a few months ago?

IIRC, this might have been related to which software version the car has. Sounds like some include this feature, some do not. I also recall reading of mixed success getting service departments to install updated versions in order to eliminate this annoying feature.

This does not occur with my 2012 A7. I can open the drivers door in reverse. Car stays running. Ebrake will automatically activate. Will keep moving after deactivating the Ebrake.
