Default Tell me why I should NOT buy a TDI A7/S7/RS7

OK guys, now is your chance to bitch about all the problems you have had with your TDI A7/S7/RS7. State which model & year. Be as descriptive and as lengthy as you like, including your selection of well deserved 4-letter explicatives.

I am aware of the Notice of Violation issued by the EPA on Nov2, 2015, concerning cheat software on the Gen II 3.0L V6 TDI engine installed in certain model years of the Porsche Cayenne, VW Touareg, and the Audi S4, S6, S7, and Q5, etc.

Audi USA "voluntarily" included ALL model years from 2009 - 2016.

I have read numerous CarFax reports, and the laundry list of in warranty problems. Some minor, others major problems. Even one Lemon Law buy back as result of engine overhaul.

Your help will be of great value in influencing my decision to purchase or not to purchase a pre-owned A7.

Come one, come all!

Cheers, AutoAnsGuy

PS: In 2011, I purchased a new VW Jetta SportWagen 2.0L TDI with DSG dual clutch trans. Actually, I really LIKE this car.

Actually the 3.0L TDI was used in the A6, A7, Q5 and Q7 not any of the "S" cars.....

I traded my 2012 A7 TFSI for a 2015 A7 TDI a year ago.

Best move I have ever made. No problems whatsoever, excellent mileage, great power. I wouldn't go back to a gasoline engine!

Totally agree. I bought a 2016 A7 TDI in June, just before 'dieselgate' broke. Since I buy a new car about every 25 years (whether I need to or not:-)), resale value is irrelevant. In 7000+ miles so far, only issue has been a defective tire (replaced under wheel/tire warranty). I LOVE this car! And yes, it will hold 4 adults and 4 sets of golf clubs.

One good reason is you can't buy one from a dealer right now. Audi has put a sales hold on all 3.0TDI models new and used. Only way at this point to obtain a used one is privately or from a non-Audi dealer.

As previously mentioned, the S7 and RS7 have 8-cylinder gas engines, not TDI diesel.

Love the 2014 A7 TDI. This is my first diesel and first Audi. No problems or complaints with the TDI. Good power and mileage.

+1

Our 2014 A7 TDI has been the most trouble free car i/we ever owned. Amazing so far (with all the electronics and new diesel engine monitoring stuff)!

The only negative that I can think of is that Audi will forced to change the TDI ECU program which may result in less power and MPG's.

You are correct about TDI not being available on "S" models. I stand corrected.
Since we have gotten that minor detail taken care of, do you have any CONSTRUCTIVE reason(s) I should NOT buy A7?

Thanks,
AutoAnsGuy

Guess you didn't read my post where I stated I am fully aware of the STOP SALE of the Gen II 3.0L TDI equipped Audi, Touareg, and Porsche. EPA issued a "Notice of Violation" for the 3.0L TDI on Nov 2, 2015.

The STOP SALE from Audi AG will eventually be lifted. I was asking about any problems that current owners are having w/A7 TDI.

I will be correcting my post to delete S7 and RS7. Happy now?

Actually, problems are problems regardless of the car being S7 or RS7.

Do you wish to contribute any constructive information about problems?
