My phone fits in the hatch above the mirror in my RS5.

I noticed the same thing on my way back from the dealer, my Note 4 spends most of the time on the passanger seat, or in the drivers door pocket if the wifes with me.

I have an A6, but for what it's worth; After multiple experiments, I settled on a cheap rotating vent clip in driver side vent of center vent assembly. This has worked great for me. In passenger seat it just falls to side of seat on hard corners, ANNOYING. I forget it if I put it in center console. If I use cup holders for drinks then I've got no other option than placing it in my own driver seat between my legs. And I use my center console ashtray for other misc. storage (ashtray cup removed), and stored things there (blue tooth headset, USB retractable cable & other) which doesn't allow phone settle in place very well.

So vent clip for me has been best option. Bonus is it helps keep phone cool and from overheating when display is set to not time out. That overheating drives me nuts on the dumb iPhone. Ack!
Needs to rotate so it doesn't interfere with the MMI display when it closes.

Default In all my past and present Audis...

… I plug it into the media port, where it charges and plays music, etc. I use the Bluetooth function for the phone, but never for the music as it compresses an already marginal digital file. One real advantage of having it in the clove box or center binnacle, is that I never respond to a text while driving as it is locked away. In LA, I feel like I am the only one NOT texting and driving

Sake motoring

Eric

Thanks everyone for all the input. Does anyone have more information on how you can get both text and email notifications on the MMI display?. Is this available in Canada? I have an IPhone 5S on the Rogers network.

I need my phone easily visible since I use Waze. I don't like using the audio callouts on Waze because there are just too many notifications in rush hour so I have to be able to glance at the map.

I open up the front compartment in front of the shifter and am able to lean my phone across the opening. It's certainly not ideal but it allows it to be within eyeshot while I'm driving.

Now if I could get Waze to show up on the car's MMI, I'd be golden.

Can you expand more on this; I would love to know how to activate this feature? Thanks!

Audi Salesman just told me the car will be in Halifax NS on or around July 20th. I can't wait. Thanks to all that posted. I am still interested in the text and email notifications via the MMI screen. Asked 19hole to elaborate. I fear this may be is a USA only feature/option. (I live in the Toronto area).

Ok, I found some good options at another site.
Mountek nGroove Snap 3
dash mount | eBay
Proclip
iOttie
Walmart.com: Save money. Live better. l=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.walmart.com%2Fip%2FiOttie-iTap-Magnetic-Air-Vent-Car-Mount-for-Apple-iPhone-6-6-Plus-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-4-Galaxy-S6-5%2F42392723%3Fwmlspartner%3Dpricegrabber.com%26af fcmpid%3D210110143%26tmode%3D0000%26bcfg%3D00a4367 205b76052a26ec27645e379fa%26veh%3Dcse

Satechi

I think I’m going to try the iOttie Magnetic clip. It is minimalist. It can clip on the vent under the MMI display and not interfere with the screen opening/closing.
