Where do you put your cell phone?

You might try one like this:
http://smile.amazon.com/Arkon-Smartp...one+seat+mount
It is a sturdy flexible stalk that installs by loosening one seat rail bolt, putting the clip under it, and tightening it back down again. (Typically passenger side, inboard.) Stalks in various heights, different holders, several companies make them. This gives you a way to hold the phone where you want it, securely.
Can also be bolted down in other places, but the seat rail makes for "no new holes".

A good spot, but ask yourself, is it secure?
I have had the pleasure of walking out of what had just been a perfectly good car...and found that even in a low speed impact, anything that is just "placed" somewhere may wind up becoming a missile. Trashed. And of course, useless for calling 911 when you need it.
So if you are t-boned and flop over sideways, or if you drift off the road and roll after hitting the drainage ditch, or any of those other little things damage more than the paint on your car...Call it paranoia, but I want my phone secured. As in fixed in place, stored in a compartment, or otherwise reasonably certain to be exactly where I left it, even if that means leaving it in my pocket. (Handy, but a nuisance running the charging cord up my leg.(G)
Your point of view on "car safety" tends to shift a bit, after you've climbed out of what used to be a perfectly good ride, and never will be one again.

Center console....the smaller upper bin.
Bluetooth (actually Cortana on my Windows Phone) announces any incoming text massages and asks me if I would like her to read them. After she reads them she then asks if I would like to respond.....pretty handy and very safe.

I used to keep mine in the cupholders also. Then I got a very stern letter from Audi, warning me that continued misuse of the cupholder would void my warranty and result in both of my legs being broken to prevent me from driving it.
Really.
But if you lift the arm rest, there is an elevated shallow compartment in the rear of that space which might hold some cell phones. Reasonably securely.

Cant say the same over here. A SA recently showed me that I could use siri to read my text using the voice command but as far as text and email being displayed, not sure how to set that up. As far as where I keep my phone, I'm surprised no ones mentioned the compartment just above the gearbox (slides open and closed). Conveniently located and just enough room to fit a phone. Thats if you don't reqiure having to look at the screen.
