Default Yes, Another Homelink/Liftmaster Question...

Hey all

I promise I've searched and I promise I've tried all the steps outlined in the threads I found — but all to no avail. My brand new 2015 A7 will simply NOT program to my 2009 Liftmaster rolling code garage openers. Here are some of the various things I've tried...

- Using the built-in programming from the MMI does nothing. Holding the garage remote by the Audi rings never causes anything to flash or happen.

- Trying to setup the Homelink buttons with the remote first, I hold the two outer Homelink buttons down, the light blinks for a while, then it goes solid. I then press and hold the HL button to program it while holing the remote button, and the HL light stays solid. The MMI asks if I want to program the button (which would then have me go to the Audi rings which doesn't work).

- I tried connecting the motor to the A7 by clearing the HL buttons, then putting the motor in learn while holding down the HL button. Nada.

I'm not opposed to having the stupid remote clipped to my visor, but it sure would be nice to have the HL working. Ugh.

So...anyone get a 2014/15 A7 to work with rolling code Liftmasters?

Rails, first off, weclome aboard!

I would look at the directions at the Homelink website. I seem to have had better luck with their guidance.

I have very new Liftmaster units and they work fine with all our Audis.

I've got a 10 yo Liftmaster with a rolling code and have had no problems using LM's instructions to program my 2011 'Vert and 2013 A7.

Rick, what steps did you use? I tried clearing the HL buttons, pressing learn on the motor, then holding down the HL button in the A7. Nada. That's how my Liftmaster says to program it.

Take a look at this webpage, it might help: Programming HomeLink Equipped Vehicles to Garage Door Openers by L.I. Locksmith

Hm. No matter how long I hold down the two outer HL buttons, they never blinked rapidly. They would blink slowly, then just stop blinking.

Before you call the dealer to do you a solid and come out and do it for you, or call your overhead door service, why don't you call liftmaster? As I recall, I held 1st and 3rd buttons until they blinked, then got up on the ladder and hit the "learn" button.

And there's like a 30 second time limit to hit the "learn" button.

Rail, I feel your pain.
I got my A7 three weeks ago and spent 2 unsuccessful hours trying to get it to work with my garage opener. I tried everything you mentioned. I gave up. Later that evening I did a search on YouTube for "Audi homelink" and came across a video which did the trick. If I remember correctly the order of operation was to press the learn button on your garage door opener. Then within 30 seconds press the outer two buttons of the homelink buttons, then press the HL button you want to program 3 times. Pressing it three times was the difference for me.
Good Luck!
