16705 Engine Speed Sensor
Ok, just in the past couple of days I have been getting this error 16705 Engine Speed Sensor and with a code of (G28) Implausible Signal. I checked the sensor on the transmission; in fact I removed it from the housing and cleaned it. The wires at the lower end seem fine but I can't seem to find where they run up to on the back side of the engine. My guess is it is the 3 wire gray connector just next to the cam sensor connector on the back of the driver's cam area.
The current symptoms are an erratic rpm at idle (although the engine seems to be running smoothly, only the Tachometer seems to jump) and the engine will just die when sitting at a stop. When I got home today after checking on the sensor and fiddling with the wires and after a test drive it died in my driveway and now the car will not start at all.
Am I right about the location of the connector? Is it between the Cam Sensor connection and what I believe is the upper O2 sensor connector on the back of the driver's cam shaft?
Has anyone here had this same experience and actually replaced the sensor? Tozo, I know this is the trouble you had on your road trip last year, but from what I can see the wires are not near the exhaust. Perhaps they are just getting brittle and finally lost connection.
I am hoping this is my problem and a simple replacement is all I need. Is this a fairly easy thing to do? As I said I already had the sensor loose from the transmission, but as far as reaching the path of the wiring, is there any secret tricks someone wants to share?

Re: 16705 Engine Speed Sensor
Ok, I answered some of my own questions, I guess I should have opened the Bentley software before speaking... Yes, it is the connector I though and I will follow the outline in the Bentley for checking the sensor with a VOM.
Still would like advise on ease of routing wires... I guess I will find out one way or the other if I have to replace.
