A huge DITTO to that!

Why would you turn the engine backwards?

What tutorial did you use? ...Certainly not Bentley (recommended)(?)

A warning you'll find repeated in Bentley, especially in the timing belt procedure >>

The way that can happen is if the valve tags the piston in the ring land area. It bends the outer edge of the piston down and the top compression ring is now stuck in it's groove. Trying to run or start the engine with a stuck ring results in scoring of the cylinder wall. I have seen it happen.

I rotated the engine backwards and see the timing is dead on. Opened the valve cover on the driver side and the chain has lots of slack. I guess pulling the head is next?
Rotating it backwards was only a very small amount and at that point it was toast anyway. No cyl scoring as not enough run time with damage. But 1 valve was broken off in 3 parts in cyl 2 and 3 other intake valves bent on same side

Turns out it was a failed tensioner and pad
