6 speed swapping an s8, any advice/warnings?
Instead of waiting for the auto to fail, I just decided to put a 6 speed in her. I'm doing an 01e from a b5 s4. Already bought the tranny and diff. Already have the shift linkage. Still need a prop shaft, anyone know if there is a factory one that will bolt up? I plan on ordering manual s8 tranny mounts from Europe, pedal assembly from an a6, still need to figure out front cv shafts also.
So I just figured I'd make a thread and see if anyone knows anything in particular I should watch out for. This is being done at a high end performance shop with access to any machining required for custom fabrication, but I don't think there will be much of that from reading other 6 speed swap threads.
Also am putting in a lower ratio 6th gear as was advised in other threads.
Any advice is appreciated!
Also, what's the value of a manual s8 in the US? I saw one on here listed for $15k. Is that a realistic value?
Thanks!

Mine has been for sale here for some time here with no takers. It is such a fab car I thought it would be worth a lot more. You will know the street value of a top notch conversion tonight at 8 pm when the bidding ends: Audi S8 6 Speed Manual Transmission | eBay

I'm collecting parts to do mine as well. You will need UrS4/6 front halfshafts plus a spacer for one side.
Driveshaft - New D2 S8/A8 6 speed (6mt) Cardan/Driveshaft, Advanced Automotion
You will need the Euro front subframe, not trans mounts unless I'm mistaken. Rear diff can stay like noted above.
I'd also get a better clutch than a stock B5S4. - this is a pretty good deal.

Stock S4s made 250hp, and they have a dual mass flywheel that is heavy and prone to failure. RS4s made 380hp? I think. You can use a B5 RS4 clutch ($450), but those are not as robust as a B7 RS4 clutch. Plus, Rock Auto sells B7 RS4 clutches for $137. Those require JHM to machine an aftermarket B5 flywheel for $250, which is what the whole kit is that I listed.
I have a good B5 S4 clutch/flywheel I'd sell for cheap as I have no use for it. It came with my B5 S4 driveline pallet of parts if you don't have one.

Hi Sam,
I don't know if you need the spacer.
Guy that sold me the trans said the clutch had 10,000 miles on it. Car was stock. It overheated and he parted it out. $100 + shipping for the flywheel, clutch, pressure plate? I'm in Detroit metro.
