Default 98 S8 turnover,but won't start

Good day everyone, I had my S8 stored for the pass few months and when I went to start her, nothing but a click. I thought it was the battery, so I replaced, but no difference. I also replaced the ignition switch, but no difference. When I checked the junction under the wheel well the large cable was broke off, so I replaced that and now the engine turns over, but won't start. did a scan and this is what I got... Will the brake switch cause a no start? Cheers

The fuel pump is pumping lots of gas! Took out spark plugs and they were dry!
No spark

What pressure are you getting from the fuel pump?
Do you small any gasoline on the plugs?

I did not hooks a pressure gauge up. Just loosen the line and when I turn the key on it sprayed the fuel every were. So, assume it's getting lots of pressure.

The plugs are dry with no fuel smell
I pulled one plug and while grounding it, I had an helper turn the engine to see if there was spark, but no spark

The car is an 98 S8 UK Spec.

Cheers

Sounds like you could be loosing power to the ECM when you move the key from ON to START.

Default I would check the crank sensor.

No signal = no spark.

I unplugged the ECU and plugged it back in. Now when I try to start her she almost starts! She starts to turn over faster but do not start. Now it is like there is not enough fuel or spark. I will be checking the voltage going to the fuel pump today, to what voltage I get.

OK, I changed my fuel filter, checked the fuel pump (ok)and cleared my DTCs. She turns over and wants to start but won't. The only error I get now from my scan is
17087 brake switch p0703 - electrical malfunction
Does this mean I need a new brake switch and this is why she won't start?
Cheers

Is your car equipped with a manual transmission? I'm not sure if you have to have your foot on the brake to make some magic interlock thing happen, but I doubt it if the engine is actually cranking, so taht likely rules out the bad brake switch.

That old laundry list of fault codes, especially the crash detection has me thinking that your cowl area was at one time full of water and the ECU went for a swim. Worst case, it is toast, but speaking form experience, I doubt it.

Also, if your engine speed sensor is dodgy, it won't tell the ECU you are cranking the engine, so you will get no spark, no continuation of fuel, and no code. In the RUN position, the injectors should be getting battery voltage. The ECU actually switches the ground side. So, if you probe the injector connectors, you should get voltage from one of the two pins with the other probe to ground. If you have a noid light, you can test to see if the ECU is actually switching them on/off.

Does the CEL stay lit in RUN and START positions? It should until the engine actually starts.

Best guess...your engine speed sensor is faulty. It won't throw a code and a defective one will prevent the car from starting. Absent that, if the cowl area really did get wet, a bad combination relay in the footwell relay box (under the front carpet) or a blown fuse(s) would be the next thing to check.

Yes, you maybe right! The car was buried in snow all winter! I live in canada.
I will check the speed sensor tomorrow.

I have a sensor on order. Once I install the new sensor I will let you know what happens.
